today's horoscope

From my dear friend Rob:
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): In the 19th century, ketchup was sold as a
medicine. Physicians prescribed "Dr. Miles Compound Extract of Tomato"
and similar potions to cure a variety of maladies, including liver disease,
baldness, athlete's foot, and depression. In this wacky tradition, I'm
recommending that you eat lots of ketchup to cure what ails you. There's
actually nothing wrong with you at all, of course. But you have been
feeding a tiny delusion with so much worried attention that it has
bloomed into a big bad hallucination. One of the best medicines might be
ketchup, whose healing power is as imaginary as your fake problem, and
which is therefore a likely cure for it.

Of course the problem I've been complaining about has been my job and several of the people related to and involved in it. So I guess my job isn't a problem, according to Rob. The old "should I stay or should I go..." doesn't matter, I suppose.

Perhaps I should meditate upon this while eating a big plate of french fries...

mmmm... french fries.

of course my question would be: are you using the unhappy job obsession as a way to avoid other more real issues in your life? i know i do that...

hmmm... don't think i'm avoiding other issues, just hemming and hawing over whether i should look elsewhere for employment. maybe i'm avoiding the issue by not taking action. (i keep telling myself i'm going to update my resume.) things would probably become more clear if i actively investigated my possibilities.

the other perspective is that if i just decided to make this work, i could spend my energy on other goals outside work, like sewing, crocheting, or training for a triathlon.

investigating possibilities would definitely clear some things up. you may realize there are tons of better things you could be doing or that what you'd have to give up to work somewhere else wouldn't be worth it. but i do like the spending your energy on things other than work part.
